The day begins with a drive to Budhanilkantha, the temple of “The Sleeping Vishnu”. This temple features a five meter long idol of the Hindu God Vishnu laying on a body of water. The black stone is not native of the Kathmandu Valley, and was carried over the mountains to this place. From here, the trek begins into the Shivapuri National Park with its great views, waterfalls and flora and fauna. We will spend the night in a guest house.

The trek is downhill as we make our way through the Tamang village of Mulkharka. We continue to wind our way through the national park until we reach the village of Chisapani, spending the night in a guest house.

The trek today goes downhill and then up again as we make our way to the village of Nagarkot. The village of Nagarkot is most famous for its incredible views of the mountains. On a clear day, you can even see Mt. Everest. We will spend the night here to watch sunset over the High Himalayas.

The activity today is optional. We can either trek to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Changu Narayan or take a bus there. The trek is an easy trek along the ridge with some great views of the Kathamandu Valley. We will observe a great sunrise over the Himalayas, and then enjoy Changu Narayan, which is a traditional Newari village where you will see woodcrafters doing their work as well as the oldest temple in the Kathmandu Valley. It is a great place to visit. From here, we return to Kathmandu.
